[WOW HE REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO DO THIS BECAUSE *AWKWARDNESS*, but at the same time he knows it's something he SHOULD do.
Okay, deep breath. You can do this!]
Hey IV. I...just wanted to say I'm sorry about last time. And thanks, for helping me.
[Okay, he may have not been initially happy about Yuto being called, but it turned out to be for the greater good. Still not being too happy about being yelled at, but he sort of gets that IV was trying to keep him from running off. Sort of. He doesn't exactly approve of his method.]
[Who does? IV questions his own method a fair number of times, enough that he's a while to answer, but calm and neutral when he does. He can't claim to deserve the thanks, but he won't put Yuya in a tough spot by saying so.]
[Hearing that, IV wonders how long Yuya's father has been gone. Had that trailing "three" been "three years" and not, perhaps, months or weeks? The longer guess seems more likely, but has no desire to pry over a call.]
[It's a skill obtained through 3 years of stepford smiling.]
...Hmmm, okay. [He sounds thoughtful for a moment...as he tries to calculate things in his head. At least it's not advanced math.]
I was going to get upgrades for Yuto and my duel disks, but after that, do you want me to transfer ViViD points so you can get a duel disk faster? Or enough packs to get a deck together? I have extra monsters from some boosters I got that I'm probably not going to use too...
[Having no deck is a shame, hence why he's offering so much at once.]
[This is all a bit much. While generous on Yuya's part, the numerous offers do something to IV's pride, to the part of him that wants to provide for himself. As a result, he cuts in as soon as Yuya starts to trail.]
Slow down. I can get them on my own.
[But he wronged Yuya to an extent in their last encounter, and that hangs over him. There's a brief pause, and then IV sighs.]
[Yuya has his own pause as well before letting out a laugh (that may sound a little on the relieved side at first).]
Alright! Are you at your apartment or do you wanna meet somewhere else? Later, when you get a deck together, we should duel. It'll be fun! [...] Well, not like an Action Duel, but you know what I mean.
[Now this is the true test: actually meeting face-to-face. But with how things are going, Yuya...isn't too worried, surprisingly.
So after gathering up all the cards he doesn't need (n-not that they're useless, they're just not Entermates), Yuya heads out to find the address. It might take him a little while 'cause goddamn there's a lot of apartment complexes, but Yuya finds his way.
[Yuya, of course. It's not like IV gets other visitors.
He did more or less say to take time, so it's almost a surprise how quickly Yuya comes around, considering. But he wasn't in the middle of anything important, and thus IV is just as swift to open the door.]
You didn't stop to take a breather, did you? Come in.
[He steps aside to give Yuya room. IV's apartment isn't much to behold. Beyond overlaying a cozier and fancier template over frequently used furniture like the couch, everything else is as plain as he'd received it. He hasn't done much to settle in Tellus.]
Thanks. Heh, and like I would need a breather. [No seriously, the thought is funny given how much he exercises to keep fit for Action Duels...Although it's only ViViD recently.
And yeah, the first thing he notices while stepping inside with his box full of cards is that it doesn't look very lived in, unlike his shared apartment with Yuzu and Yuto. But then again, IV is still new. While he moves to set the box on the coffee table, there's a question for IV:]
What model duel disk do you normally use? Is it the AR thing?
["AR thing" . . . good grief. Whoever told him about AR Vision must have done a lousy job. IV almost shakes his head as he closes the door, before walking across the room to take a seat in front of the coffee table.]
That's right. It seems like mine got misplaced when I was brought here.
That's too bad. [A darn shame that IV's code didn't have at least his deck written with him. Yuya doesn't think to question it otherwise, and he'll take the floorspace opposite of IV as he starts unpacking the box. All the cards have been presorted by type already.]
I was wondering 'cause I didn't know if it'd be compatible with mine. [He slides his own duel disk out of his pocket and sets it on the table. Just a simple red box-y device.]
[IV watches Yuya unpack. At least the kid's neat. It'll make looking through easier and a much faster process. At the same time, just thinking that makes IV feel bare again, knowing that his deck is nowhere to be found in this forsaken colony.]
Who knows? Even if we wanted to, we can't test it.
[Unless he enlists the assistance of the others, who he knows for sure to be in possession of the proper equipment. He doesn't exactly want to ask.]
Ah...right. [Well, he did tell Rio to text him whenever she wanted to have a duel, so they'll figure it out eventually. For now, he'll finish up unpacking and then lean back to observe his work. Four stacks: spells, traps, normal, and effect monsters. He hasn't picked up any extra deck monsters because he just needs to reality warp them into real life.]
Sorry, I don't have any XYZ monsters. [WHICH HE ASSUMES IV WOULD USE OFF THE BAT BECAUSE HE'S FROM HEARTLAND.] But the rest are sorted by type.
[As soon as Yuya finishes laying out the cards, IV makes a beeline for the monsters. It's unlikely he'll be able to build a deck with Yuya's spare cards, especially with the lack of Xyz monsters, but spell and trap cards to augment play tend to come later. It doesn't matter, anyway; at the end of the day, he'll have sifted through them all.]
It doesn't matter. I'll acquire them on my own time.
[Then IV falls quiet, choosing to focus on the cards in his hands as he looks through each one. If Yuya wants to start asking questions, now's the time.]
[First he's going give IV a minute as he scoots to the open part of the table to pull a test-hand from the top of his deck. Glancing over the cards, he'll shoot his question:]
What was Heartland like? I've seen a picture [Action Field setting], and Yuto's told me a little but never gone into detail.
[Setting one EM Drumming Kong in attack mode and one face-down, IV will likely notice to dual-colored template of the monster card.]
[Naturally, IV's attention wanders for a bit when Yuya sets down a card. His eyes flicker over to its strange coloring at the border, and, for a brief moment, narrow out of curiosity.
Heartland crops up out of nowhere, though, and that snaps him back to the present.]
What, you've never been? . . . What do you want to know?
Nope! Never been out of Maiami. [But yes, narrowing down his question. Let'sseeeeee...It's actually hard to pick when he knows so little.]
The picture I saw made it look super futuristic. Is the whole city like that? And what're the tournaments like? I just entered Maiami's before being pulled here.
Tournaments . . . The World Duel Carnival must have been the last.
[He nods before turning back to continue perusing the spare cards, answering the while. If it's the WDC, he can detail it with ease.]
There were over 10,000 participants, but only 24 of us advanced after collecting Heart Pieces. [Never mind that, in the end, only 23 advanced.] Then it was the finals. In the first stage, we dueled on the Duel Coaster. The rest was par for the course.

You sound calmer now. So talking to Yuto helped?
no subject
[He'll always find it funny how they barely know each other, yet there's still that connection that helps them to surpass that unfamiliarity.]
no subject
. . . Good.
[What now?]
That's good.
no subject
Oh right-- did your deck come with you? We should duel sometime!
[B-Because he promised 'Shingetsu', but after what happened, he can't see IV being the bad guy that he was depicted as.]
no subject
It didn't. I don't have a duel disk, either.

Fine. We'll do a hand-off of what you don't need.

[That's a promise. There's some shuffling in the background as he shifts in his seat.]
I'm sending you the address to my apartment. That's fine, right?
no subject
Awesome. And yeah, that's fine with me! I'll start getting ready to head out, then.
no subject
I don't have plans today. Come by whenever you're ready.

In short, it was enormous.

A Duel Coaster?! That sounds so cool! I wish I could--
