[Leia does the same, and as she considers that, she'll make herself comfortable by leaning against the sill, as if trying to get a better look. You could already consider these front row seats, though--
So really, it probably comes off as childish.
She doesn't look back at IV when she answers. She only smiles faintly.]
I don't know about that. She's super pumped up about it, so it might be sooner than you think... Plus, it's not like the past two days haven't given me plenty to write about.
[Just thinking about it makes her tired again; but she'll let that sink in before continuing.]
She wants anything newsworthy, just to get ourselves out there.
[While she busies herself with the nature beyond, IV watches Leia. He doesn't imitate her in making himself cozier, because he's already comfortable with his back against the seat and one leg crossed over the other. The wide view also means he doesn't have to crane his neck too much to look outside.]
By that, you must mean the past two waking days.
[The shift in calendar date still makes him wary, as much as he can be. Time isn't something that can just be manipulated like that.]
Let me know when it's out. It'll be good to have something to read.
[It's... actually very encouraging to hear that: the genuine interest in his voice. Not even his correction (waking days) can take the feeling away, concerning though the implications may be. Leia can't help but turn to him, expression warm as she nods.]
Sure thing. I'll even save a copy for you with your name on it.
[Oh.]
...Speaking of which, you still owe me an autograph.
[A personalized copy from one of the staff herself? How generous. What's funnier that tugs at a corner of his lips is how they keep bringing up the autograph that, under normal circumstances, he relinquishes with ease. It's not the right timing, is it?]
And a photograph. But I'm not the one with a camera.
[She says, as if she only just remembered their photograph deal. She ponders on that a little bit more, though--she didn't think to bring her camera on the way up here, but she is palming her CereVice.]
Or are you? I bet this thing can take pictures.
[She's pretty confident, even if she's never used that feature before.]
[It takes less than two seconds to confirm. She turns it over in her hand, and sure enough, there's the lens. Of course, this says nothing about the quality of the pictures... but she's rather optimistic about it, and more importantly, impatient.
She will flip it back and quietly pull up the camera function--which doesn't take long to find. Unfortunately, though, she doesn't notice that her finger's hit "video," and a red light emits as she holds it some distance away, selfie-style.
She turns in her chair and swivels to get him into the shot, and her finger is lingering for a shutter button that isn't there.
[He lifts his chin and smiles, more out of habit of the camera being pointed in his direction than anything else. It's the kind of tender smile he gives the photographers and fans, so very far removed from his typical smirks. But it doesn't last, because habit is just that.]
[Leia notices his smile through the screen before it fades, and is pretty notably distracted for a moment--smiling herself, picture or not. He's got a nice smile, to be sure; but at the question, it finally clicks.
[VERY CAREFULLY? She prefers her legit camera, okay. This is admittedly convenient, though, so at his huffing--well, she's a little amused, too.
She glances out of the window for a moment when he gestures, and after she pans the camera over the view behind them, she quickly switches it to picture mode before finally snapping one.
She snaps multiple in fact, giving IV a chance to react at least, and she'll make various silly faces all the while with the occasional normal smile thrown in.]
You can't sign my screen either, but we'll work something out.
[In the first picture, he'll surely come out off guard with his lips parted, but at least he'll be looking into the CereVice camera. He catches on by the third snap, and, glimpsing the silly faces Leia's making, leans back into his seat with his arms folded and a wry, amused smirk. It's all about being photogenic, which he is, so he doesn't follow her example.]
I'm sure we will. Now, are you done taking pictures?
[Oh... she's getting a bit carried away. Faintly she laughs and lowers her CereVice.]
For now. You've given me some good material so far.
[She's scrolling through the pictures already. Some are better than others, of course, but she doesn't seem all too concerned. Instead, out of the corner of her eye, she keeps glancing out the window, and in the distance it looks like the first rays of sun are about to make their appearance.
They're obscured only by clouds, but she can tell it's time.]
[Similarly, IV arrives to the same conclusion after following Leia's glances. Any second now, and the floor they're on should light up and grow warmer with the rising sun. He's not cold, but it isn't exactly cozy up here.]
It's about time.
[He lets out an amused huff. They sure got a lot done while waiting.]
We rushed up here, but the sun took its sweet time.
[She starts recording again just in time to catch his words. She doesn't say anything about it, though, and simply pushes a button on the screen to switch the camera over. Instead of capturing them, it's now capturing the view outside, and she sets the device on the window sill so that she doesn't have to hold it.]
Maybe it wanted us to sleep for a bit longer. But I don't mind.
[That seems like a given without her needing to say it. IV chuckles as he leans against the chair armrest.]
Why would you? You were up even earlier than me.
[And it was you, little miss, who woke him up before his usual time. He's still tired, but there's been enough conversation and mild excitement to stir some more alertness. After this, he probably won't be able to go back to sleep, even for a nap.]
[Leia huffs at the reminder, though his teasing seems all in good fun. She also has a special ability to be able to fall asleep--well, pretty much anywhere, but she won't think about that now.]
It could have been worse. I could have called.
[She leans back in the chair again and pulls her knees closer to her as she watches the sky brighten.]
Calls are better. [He would rather the greater intimacy of spoken words. Text messages are fine and convenient, but they leave so much to be desired.] But do it in the daytime. I prefer to be awake after the sun, not before.
[Despite his refusal to let Leia live down her early text, IV's teasing is exactly that and evident from his lazy smile.]
[She makes a half-hearted attempt at nudging him but doesn't quite make it. She doesn't try a second time, though, and her arm flops back down, swinging almost like a pendulum.]
[Thinking about the past few days makes the air suddenly feel chillier. IV props an elbow on the armrest and rests his chin against his knuckles, eyeing the innocuously set gem in his bracelet.]
[She glances towards him curiously for a moment as he eyes his bracelet. An answer like that might have been good enough for a Leia Rolando of another dimension, but this Leia certainly isn't going to be able to leave it like that.
As much as she'd rather not treat this like an interview, for once...]
That's... good.
[Right? ...Well, she'll stop there for now and give him a chance to respond. Her voice is uncertain.]
[The bracelet clashes with his current casual wear, but there's no way he'll leave it behind under any circumstance. In many ways, it's the foundation of his strength and the last link to the life he had. He won't talk about it, though.
Leia's trailing leads to a brief pause, wherein IV begins to watch the slow sunrise again.]
It went exactly as I told you. She handled herself just fine. [At this next part, he titters.] Although she was the one who made the mistake of dragging us into the mall.
[Leia remembers well enough the brief mention of the elves and reindeer over text. She hasn't become any more eager to discuss them since, so she's more than happy to take that answer for what it is.
Still, now that he mentions it--well.]
Mm. [If that's true, she made the same mistake.] Don't be too hard on her. That sleigh... it had to be leading us there somehow, I know it.
[IV doesn't think he's being hard on Rio. In fact, he's being generous about the way he's been addressing her around Leia, but he supposes that his words don't always strike others the same way as they do himself. It's a constant work in progress, and he answers smoothly.]
It wasn't even the sleigh. She wound up there on sheer accident after running off without thinking. [His voice climbs a pitch again, ever whimsical.] I was no better for following her.

The red light...]
Mm, yeah. But I think I hit record instead.

That's even better, isn't it?

It might be, but I can't sign a video.
[He shrugs, then gestures to the windowed view beside them.]
Well, it should be good for filming the sunrise.
